Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from international football following Belgium’s disappointing campaign at the World Cup in Qatar.
Belgium were knocked out of the tournament in the group stage and the Real Madrid striker failed to impress the team.

Hazard, 31, played in all Group F matches, but did not score, as Belgium beat Canada, lost to Morocco and drew 0-0 with Croatia to finish third.

“I have decided to end my international career. The caliphate is ready. I will miss you…. #onestensemble.”
Hazard’s announcement comes after Roberto Martinez confirmed he would be leaving his position as Belgium coach following the tournament’s exit.

Hazard captained his country in Qatar and has been a key figure for Belgium in recent years.
The striker was one of their highlights at the 2018 World Cup, helping Belgium to a third-place finish – the country’s best performance at the finals.
Hazard made his international debut in 2008. He scored 33 goals in 126 appearances for Belgium.
