Nebraskans can now legally bet on sports.
Starting Thursday, June 22nd, sports gambling has kicked off at WarHorse Casino Lincoln. Players can place sports bets through any of the casino’s 10 kiosks or the sportsbook window.
WarHorse has partnered with Kambi, a leading independent sports betting technology, offering and services company.
“Nebraskans have been calling for the opportunity to bet on sports since ballot initiatives were passed in 2020,” said Lance Morgan. CEO From Ho-Chunk, Inc. , the parent company of WarHorse Gaming, LLC. “We are thrilled to be the first casino in the state to offer sports betting.”
Online sports gambling is not allowed in the state.
State regulations require sports bets to be placed on-site, but bettors can view odds, build and save bets through the WarHorse app for placing a bet at on-site kiosks or the sportsbook window.
In addition to banning online betting, gamblers cannot bet on group teams within the country.
“Bettors will be able to place bets on a variety of sports and events, much more than just the big sports,” Morgan added.
WarHorse Casino Lincoln is Nebraska’s first and largest casino, offering over 400 slots and simultaneous horse betting.
Nebraska legalized sports betting in 2021, allowing race tracks and casinos to bet on their holdings.
WarHorse Gaming is a division of Ho-Chunk, Inc. Winnebago Economic Development Corporation of Nebraska. WarHorse Casino in Lincoln opens in 2022. Caesars also plans to build a casino in the state.
More than 30 states in the country have some form of legal sports betting. Most of these jurisdictions allow online betting.
