Alexander Reard had his first seven-figure result on Monday in 2023 World Series of Pokerbanked $1,057,663 to win the $10,000 No-Limit Six-Up Hold’em Championship event.
It was his second gold bracelet overall, after he won the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event in 2021 for $428,694. The French player now has more than $5.2 million in professional tournament earnings.
The tournament attracted a field of 550 entries, creating a total prize pool of $5,115,000. The last 83 players won the money, earning a minimum payout of $16,088.
Notables who made a deep run include Andrej Patychuk (26), Barack Weisbrod (24), Yuki Chu (22), Ben Diebold (21), Taylor Power (19), Frank Lagodic (16), Turbo Nguyen (15), Felipe Ramos (13), Fred Gettin (11), Fabrice Piggott (8), Michael Rossito (7).
Phil Hellmuth was awarded the No. 1 bracelet. 18, but ultimately failed to reach the final table to go up in ninth place. This was Hellmuth’s 13th prize of the summer, which included a win in the $10,000 super turbo bonus event.
Eric Baldwin was looking for his third career bracelet, but was eventually broken in sixth. He was followed by Ellie Berg, winner of the Justin Liberto bracelet, and W.J WSOP Universal casino Champion AJ Kelsall.
That left the one-on-one between Rayard and pro Stephen Chedwick. Rayard entered the final day with a big chip lead and went into a one-on-one match with an advantage of 5: 2.
The two fought for about half an hour before all the chips on the board read 8d, 5h, 2h, and 6d. Chidwick held 8s 3c for the top pair and pull straight, but Reard turned in the straight with a 4d 3d.
Chedwick did not hit a three-out to cut, and was eliminated in second. The bracelet winner earned $653,688 for his second-place appearance, which brought his career earnings to $49.7 million, behind Daniel Negreanu in third place all-time.
