This $1,600 tournament features three starting flights, with 12.5% of participants taking home the money. For Day 1A, this advanced 12 players to Day 2, with each of them guaranteed at least a minimum of cash.
Each player started the tournament with 40,000 chips, and blind levels were set at 40 minutes. Late registration and re-entry were available during the start of level 13.
More than 13 hours after the cards came out, the day concluded with the elimination of the winner of the bracelet and World Poker Tour Champion Tyler Patterson is in 13th place. He swiped pocket plugs in aces from Joe Kuether to break the bubble.
2021 WPT Venice Main event champion Qing Liu finished with the highest total, earning 612,000.
Leo rose to the lead in one of the final hands of the night, winning a big three with pocket kings against the pocket tens of Loyal Sprague and the pocket threes of bracelet winner Ryan Laplante. Leo felt a little sweaty when the ten was the first card in the window, but a king quickly followed suit to give him the first set.
Leo has over $2.9 million in career earnings, with over $1.6 million coming from his many deep dives at The Venetian. The biggest result of his career saw him defeat a field of 937 in a $5,000 buy-in WPT Venice Back in March of 2021.
Other big stacks include Ross Fabrizio (443,000), Josh Remitio (430,000), Donald Fulton (368,000), and Jessica Vierling (334,000). 2021 CPPT Venice Champion John Riordan earned $142,000 and is eyeing a second title on tour.
Tournament play continues with Day 1B beginning Friday at 11:10 a.m. Day 2 will start on Sunday at 11:00 AM.
