Scali, 21, is committed to Gladbach and is unlikely to move during this window but sources have told ESPN that there is expected to be strong interest in the summer.
Newcastle have Scully at the top of their list of potential targets but sources have told ESPN that if they end up backing down on Bayern Munich’s interest in Kieran Trippier, they are expected to look within their squad in this window for a replacement. Fulham investigated Scully in January 2023 but Gladbach rejected their interest.
Scali has already made 76 appearances for Gladbach in the Bundesliga and 84 in all competitions. Participations came in a variety of positions, where he can play at left-back, right-back and in central defence, and he also appeared as a winger for Gladbach this season.
Scali moved to Gladbach in January 2021 from New York City FC and made an immediate impact in the Bundesliga.
He has made eight appearances for the USMNT and was part of their 2022 World Cup squad.
