Authorities said a man, who was seated at a poker table in a Washington state card game room, carried out a stabbing attack before leading police in a high-speed chase.
According to a report from ColombianScott Robert Harmier, 41, appeared in court Wednesday on suspicion of four counts of first-degree assault and one count of attempting to elude police. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond as authorities believe he continues to threaten the community.
Harmer is scheduled to stand trial Dec. 28.
The Associated Press reports that all four victims are expected to survive, according to authorities. Harmer allegedly stabbed the victims “without provocation”. It is not clear what led to the stabbing. It is also unclear what the stakes were and what game Harmier was playing.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on 12/12/2022 a sudden and unprovoked attack took place at our casino and our customers were involved,” the card room, The Last Frontier Casino, said in a statement. “The suspect is in the custody of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, and the Sheriff’s Department is conducting an active investigation into this matter. Harmer was alleged to have used a hunting knife in the attack.
