There have been plenty of crazy casino escapades over the years, but one recent case in Oklahoma City stands out and involves a unique modus operandi.
Police say Jason McBrayer, 43, did not use a gun or knife, but instead brandished a snake to rob a casino guest.
Authorities say the suspect sat next to a customer at a slot machine at Remington Park Casino and quickly pulled out the snake in a threatening manner. The gambler then fled the scene, but left a $400 ticket in the machine. The serpentine suspect then allegedly cashed the ticket and left the property.
A snake used as a weapon
It is not known what type of snake was used in this case. But this was not the only crime in which McBrayer used Ripple. According to the police.
“It was the next day when police were called to the same man. He was on Northeast 23rd Street,” said Sergeant Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department. KQCW. “He started threatening people again with the snake.”
Police allege McBrayer lunged at a convenience store employee as well as other customers in the store. Then the scene became even stranger.
“During the commotion, he took a knife, cut off the head of the snake and threw the snake away,” Knight added. “You don’t see a snake or even an animal used as a weapon in a robbery very often. It’s something we rarely see.”
When police arrived, McBrayer fled but was arrested at a nearby bank. McBrayer now faces charges of robbery by force or fear and cruelty to animals.
The casino industry has seen some interesting cases of crime in recent weeks, including a major gambling scam and other six-figure thefts.
