Chris Brewer came out on top at Super High Roller’s latest event European Poker Tour Paris Championship Series on February 21 at the Hyatt Regency Paris-Etoile in France.
The high stakes ripper topped a tough field to get $1,026,686 for the biggest score of his career. It was Brewer’s second victory of the series after winning the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em event for $382,183 just a few days earlier. As a result, his tournament winnings increased to $8,085,943.
“It feels great, it was a really tough field. I mean, you ran amazing, and it was really fun to win twice this week.” Poker News correspondents. “That feels better. I mean, the other one was $25,000 for one day. That’s a big one. It’s also the biggest cash I’ve ever had by a pretty big margin.”
The $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament had a prize pool of $3,422,630 thanks to a total of 68 entries. The top nine players received a minimum of $99,296 in prize money. There were 33 returns for the second day of the tournament, and the field went out to the last 11 on the last day of play.
Sam Greenwood and Timothy Adams were the unfortunate couple who went down before the final table and the money bubble burst less than an hour into play. Brewer was in the middle of the pack when the final table started, and everyone was trailing behind with the huge advantage Joel Dickerson had.
Thomas Mohlwicker (eighth), Steve O’Dwyer (seventh), Dimitar Danchev (sixth) and Nick Petrangelo (third) were some of the notable names who fell all the way to the final match in the tournament between Brewer and Dickerson.
Dickerson had a nearly 3:2 advantage at the start of the singles play, but the course ended in a quick sequence of hands.
Dickerson had a slight chip lead when Pryor hit a four-eighth to take a full home lead in what would be the deciding pot of the tournament. The final hand was a mere formality with Dickerson all in for less than a big blind with a 9-5 suit against J-8 that suited Burr that made it the championship win.
Dickerson earned $667,486 in second place, and his career earnings now stand at $736,221.
