Christian Eriksen has completed his move to Manchester United under a three-year contract, the club announced on Friday.
Eriksen, 30, was a free agent after leaving Brentford at the end of last season. The Denmark international signed with Brentford in January 2022 and made 11 appearances for the newly promoted team, scoring one goal.

“Manchester United is a special club and I can’t wait to get started,” Eriksen said. The club’s official website.
“I’ve had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford a few times but doing so in the red shirt for Manchester United would be a great feeling.”
“I’ve seen Eric’s work at Ajax and I know the level of detail and preparation he and his crew put in every day. He’s obviously a great coach. After I spoke with him and learned more about his vision and the way he deals with him. The team wants to play, I’m even more excited for the future.”
“I still have great ambitions in the game, there is a great deal I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”
Tottenham also showed an interest in Eriksen, but after manager Antonio Conte reneged on the deal, United were able to pounce on him.
He was instrumental in helping Brentford finish 13th in the Premier League in his first season in the First Division after promotion from the Championship, with his impressive form securing the interest of a host of clubs across Europe.
This is the final step in a fantastic comeback for Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at last summer’s European Championships.
His contract at Inter Milan was terminated in December 2021, and he signed with Brentford as a free agent soon after.
Eriksen becomes Erik ten Hag’s second deal this summer after taking over 22-year-old Dutch left-back Terrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
His arrival will be a boost for United having secured their second consecutive win on their pre-season tour with a 4-1 victory against Melbourne Victory on Friday.
United are also set to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax and hope the defender will join the squad in Australia.
