Maybe it was divine intervention?
A Las Vegas native named Jesus C. hit a massive jackpot of over $10 million on Friday on a slot machine.
However, the massive payouts didn’t happen on the glitzy Las Vegas Strip resort. Jesus earned $10,483,726 at Cannery Casino, which is located six miles north of the Strip.
It is said that he only put $40 into the device. This is a little more than just turning water into wine.
The win came July 7 on the Megabucks slot machine, which features a stack of interconnected jackpots among all the Nevada-based machines. There are about 140 casinos in the state with at least one in operation.
Megabucks slot machines have been in play since 1986 and historically have only been accessed 2-3 times each year. To qualify, a player must bet at least $3 per spin.
The biggest slots jackpot ever also came on the Megabucks machine, with software engineer Jay Brennan winning $39,713,982 at Excalibur Casino in 2003.
The biggest payout ever at Cannery casino came in 2005, when a retired veteran named Elmer Sherwin took home $21.1 million. Incredibly, Sherwin had already hit the $4.6 million jackpot at the Mirage in 1989. He ended up donating most of the winnings to charity.
