Commercial and tribal operators in Michigan reported total Internet gaming (iGaming) revenue and total sports betting revenue in July totaling $176.1 million. Total revenues increased 4.0% compared to June results.
It was a record performance for the month. The Wolverine State launched online gambling in January 2021.
Total iGaming revenue for July was $153.6 million, and total sports betting revenue was $22.5 million. As of June 2023, total iGaming revenue was $151.0 million, and total sports betting revenue was $18.3 million.
Total adjusted iGaming and online sports betting gross receipts (Reward) for July was $154.6 million, including $138.2 million from iGaming and $16.4 million from online sports betting – representing increases of 1.0% and 77.5%, respectively, compared to June 2023. Compare With reported revenues in July 2022, iGaming Reward It rose 18.0%, and sports betting rose 16.8%.
Total online sports betting handle at $200.8 million was down 11.9% from the $227.9 million recorded in June 2023.
Operators reported submitting $29.8 million in taxes and payments to the state of Michigan during July, including $28.7 million in online gaming taxes and fees and $1.1 million in online sports betting taxes and fees.
The three Detroit casinos reported paying $7.6 million to the City of Detroit in betting taxes and municipal services fees during July, including internet gaming taxes and fees of $7.2 million and online sports betting taxes and fees of $391,969.
Tribal operators reported paying $3.5 million to governing bodies in July.
