“The passion of the people of Naples ignites my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering and I wear it with pride.
“The accusations against the people of Naples are not true. I have a lot of friends from Naples and they have become part of my family and my daily life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support me and reach out to me.”
“Thank you very much, I am forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. Forza Napoli Sempre.”
Napoli said they never intended to offend their star striker.
“To avoid any possible exploitation of the matter, Napoli would like to explicitly state that the club never intended to offend or ridicule Victor Osimhen, who is an asset to the club.” He said in a statement Thursday.
Osimhen came off the bench to score in Napoli’s 4-0 win over Lecce on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker headed a cross from Hvicha Kvaratskhelia past the Lecce goalkeeper six minutes after coming on at the end of the first half.
