Most sports bettors would probably be happy with a $400,000 result and the chance to play for another $4 million. This was not the case for professional high-stakes poker player and sports gambler Sean Perry.
As a $1,000 purchase at Circa Survivor NFL The pool reached the final 13 players last week, and 12 of the remaining players agreed to exactly that deal. However, Perry was the only holdout – canceling the agreement and opting to play for the entire enchilada.
Instead, the 27-year-old son of poker pro Ralph Perry He offered the counter in which he would receive $2 million in the deal.
“I said: With all respect, I’m the best bettor in the world. There’s no way I’m ever chipping away. I wish you guys all the best. I’ll see you at the finish line,” he said. Las Vegas Journal Review.
“Why would I chop when I have an advantage? If I win $400,000 each, any money I take from the prize pool is money I’ll theoretically lose because I have an advantage. I think I have the best team left, and I’m confident in my abilities. That’s what I do. I’m a crusher.” Big. I’ve been the biggest winner in sports for as long as I can remember.
Of course, there are good arguments for not cutting.
No cash, but no regrets
But despite his bravery, Perry bowed out of contention over the weekend when the Broncos lost 26-23 to the Patriots. as NFL Heading into the end of the regular season, players had limited options when it came to teams they had not previously chosen.
The Broncos were 7-point favorites and six of those remaining in the Circa contest also chose the Broncos. There are now only four players remaining and three weeks remaining to determine the winner. The contest generated a field of 9,267 entries and will pay approximately $9.3 million to the winner.
No doubt many punters will be disappointed not to get their money’s worth after diving into this deal, but it appears Perry has no regrets about turning down the deal.
He wrote on Twitter: “Happy Christmas to all the haters, and remember that I am still the biggest winner in sports and will have a wonderful Christmas.” “How I found out about the Circa contest is that I set up and deposited $1 million into my new Circa account. I proceeded to make $500,000 within the first few weeks before lowering my limits. So gambling at Circa was still very profitable for me. And I still #goat“.
Life as a gambler
It seems fitting that Perry would venture into the world of poker and gambling. His father, Ralph, is an old-school gambler who has taken $3.7 million in poker winnings in live tournaments and won a prize World Series of Poker Bracelet in 2006 for $207,817.
Poker runs in the family, and Sean Perry himself has earned over $6.8 million in live tournament winnings. This record includes numerous major hits and several high-level PokerGO Tour titles.
In recent years, much of his activity has been sports-related and he has cashed in on the online winners of the 2022 and 2023 Super Bowls to the tune of nearly $2 million in earnings. After winning the 2022 race, he posted a video of himself stuffing the cash winnings into a suitcase.
