The $600 no-limit Omaha mixed event and the Omaha mixed event drew a field of 2,107. The stadium was 500 more players than it was in 2021, creating a massive $1,074,570 prize pool.
Despite all the players, the tournament only took two days to play, and culminated in a quick final table where Latvia left Romans Vojtovs with all the chips.
On day two of play, the Voitovs entered 16th out of the remaining 76, and rode a flurry of cards to the title.
“It seemed so easy,” Vojtovs said. WSOP . World Series of Poker reporters. “It was almost like a dream. Normally, it never happens. I scored something like four knockouts in 10 hands, every decision was easy. It was truly every poker player’s dream. I fell back to my 10 blind at some point before redrawing. The final table and in 10 minutes I became the chip leader. I won all the add-ons and it was very easy from there because people are afraid to play against the biggest accumulator.”
His fortune continued in head-to-head play, as he smashed aces to runner-up thief Michael Dobbs to clinch the tournament’s last bet. Along with the bracelet, he had $158,609 in his pocket.
This is the third Latvian bracelet ever. The other two belong to high-stakes professional Alexis Bunakov, who earlier this summer defeated Phil Ivey in a one-on-one event in the $100,000 race. WSOP . World Series of Poker High roller for a $1.9 million payday.
Notable personalities who have made the deep forays include Richard Bay (5th), Dan Zak (12th), David Larson (14th), Nippon Java (22nd) and John Dollinger (28th).
