A one-of-a-kind retail sportsbook will open in Maryland on Monday.
A ribbon-cutting event is set to officially open BetRivers Sportsbook at Bingo World, Maryland’s first retail sportsbook outside of a casino. The country legalized sports betting over a year ago.
State voters signed off on legal sports betting in November 2020, then state lawmakers passed bills to facilitate approved betting in the spring of 2021.
Bingo World is located in Baltimore. In March of this year, the facility was approved to become the ninth retail sportsbook in the state.
The 3,000-square-foot BetRivers Sportsbook at Bingo World has a lounge area with 32 theater-style seats, 21 HD video screens, 12 sports betting booths, and three over-the-counter machines for placing bets. All kinds of sports bets will be allowed.
Bingo World President Randy Clemens and BetRivers Director of B2B Services Adam Glass will attend on Monday, along with some elected officials.
Sports betting usually skews toward a younger demographic, while bingo skews toward older adults.
