Anton Morgenstern (8th – $71,200) soon followed when he powered up the Pocket Kings in a slam dunk.
The next big hand resulted in a double elimination. Yian Zeng was integral with a double-ten rundown of high facing aces pockets of Gavin Andreanoff (who was covered by Zeng) and double-gauge AKQ-8 of bracelet winner Daniel Dvoress. Zeng made Queen-high a straight on the bend, but River improved Dvoress into a straight ace-high to scoop the pot. Zeng cashed in $91,500 as the seventh-place finisher, while Andrianov earned $115,500 for his sixth-place appearance.
Michael Rossi, who made his way to the series via a promotion on the Moneymaker Tour, had it all with a nut pull and some back-door straight odds facing Pascal Lefranquis’ first set. Rossi had the best payday of his career of $148,200 after the deck voids erupted at the turn and river.
Matthew Wood got it all with one-of-a-kind pocket aces after a rainbow-coloured flop. Dvoress called an open straight pull and got there on the turn. Wood was drawing dead and was sent home $184,800 for a fourth-place finish.
Gottlieb won the next high profile match, eliminating Pascal Lefrancois to set up a heads-up for the title. Lefrancois, A.; WSOP The bracelet holder based in Canada earned $234,000 to increase his career earnings to over $7 million.
Gottlieb and Dvores started off relatively evenly, but the decisive struggle of the match swung things dramatically in the Americans’ favor. All chips entered number 9

Dvoress was left on the fumes after that and quickly dropped out of second place. The Mississauga, ON resident earned $355,000 for his most recent deep run, bringing his lifetime tournament earnings to nearly $27.5 million.
