year 2022 World Series of Poker It officially kicked off Tuesday morning, with hundreds of poker players attending the first day of the Greatest Poker Tournament.
This is the 53rd year of WSOP . World Series of PokerIt is the first of its kind on the Las Vegas Strip. Having started in downtown Binion’s Horseshoe, the summer series moved to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in 2005, where it remained until last year’s series.
With Caesars Entertainment selling the Rio, the chain is now moving to two properties located directly on the “50-yard line” of the Strip in Paris Las Vegas, and Bally’s, soon to be renamed Horseshoe.
The new venue is a major upgrade over Rio, with four times more dining options, and more restrooms. The 200,000-square-foot communal space will house nearly 600 tables, nearly a 33% increase from last year.

World Series of Poker “As it moves into the heart of the Las Vegas strip and debuts at the best facilities we’ve ever had,” CEO Ty Stewart said. “We are ready to welcome players from all over the world to our party at Bally’s, soon to be Horseshoe, and Paris. As usual, the series started with a $500 casino employee event, which is only open to players who also work in the gambling industry. More than 800 players have registered so far, and the first bracelet for the series is set to be awarded on Wednesday evening.
Reality TV personality Lisa Vanderpump was on hand to release the usual “Shuffle up and deal” commercial and then took a starring seat. One of Vanderpump’s 36 restaurants is located in the Paris Casino.
The first event for the pros was the $100,000 high roller bounty competition. Each player eliminated in the event is worth $25,000. At press time, the stadium has just over 40 players, and the final table will be broadcast live on Thursday on PokerGO. (Get $20 off annual subscription with promo code “CardPlayer”)
There are over 100 bracelet events in total including 13 online tournaments.
