When asked about Ancelotti, Lola saidHe was never the coach of Italy. Why not solve the problem of Italy not even playing in the past [2022] world Cup?”
Ancelotti, 64, has led Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid in a career spanning 28 years – becoming the only coach to win four Champions Leagues – but he has never managed a national team.
In Madrid, Ancelotti leads Brazil internationals Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.
Lula, a Corinthians fan, added: “It’s very easy to lead a team in Europe with 11 nationally selected players. It’s difficult to get here and get to [relegation-threatened] Corinthians. I want to see if Ancelotti will fix Corinthians. The Corinthians suffer greatly.
Lula paid tribute to Fernando Diniz, who was appointed on Tuesday as Brazil’s interim coach on a one-year deal while at the same time maintaining his role with Fluminense.
Lula said that Diniz has “character, creativity and control of the dressing room” and believes he would “take advantage of” the opportunity.
Five-time World Cup winners Brazil have been without a full-time coach since Tite resigned following their quarter-final exit at the 2022 World Cup in December.
Brazil Under-20 coach Ramon Menezes has led the team since then.
