2022 South Texas Poker Championship The $1,400 Hold’em Main Event drew a total of 932 entries, surpassing the $1 million guarantee to build a final prize pool of $1,165,000. After eight kickoffs and two more days of work, that sea of players turned Rounders Card Club in San Antonio, Texas, has been reduced to just one player: Trung Pham.
The Texas resident earned $168,000,912 card player Player of the Year points for the win, the biggest score so far in the tournament’s restart. Pham now has nearly $1.5 million in earnings on record to his name.
This was the third fam POYEnd of the final qualifying table for this year. With a total of 1,136 points, he now sits inside the top 400 in 2022 POY Sponsored race arrangement Global Poker.
The Final Table broadcast on Rounders Tonight has kicked off! at 5:00 p.m CST. The day started with Jared Engels in the lead and Pham second for the chip.
Anthony Cano (ninth – $20,000) was the first to fall, as his K-10 ran into Caleb Harwell’s jacks. Despite getting that knockdown, Harwell was the next to hit the rails. He lost a classic with AK at Engels’ Pocket Queens to finish in eighth place ($26,000).
Brian Buchhorn’s pocket kings ($7, $33,600) were broken by a 5-4 from Pham, who made a couple. Then, Jonathan Alfonso lost cash for a coin pre-paid with a K-10 suit for failing to pass the eight-pocket of Raja Sekhar (sixth – $42,000).
Mauricio Solano got it all as KJ drove in a K-10 right for Ingles, but a ten on the flop turned the tables. Solano was unable to regain the lead at the turn or river and lost to fifth place ($53,500).
Trung won it all with five pockets against AQ of Ingles while playing four hands to begin his rise up the leaderboard.
Raja Sekhar ran Ingalls pocket queens to finish fourth ($67,500). The next big hand saw a fam being pushed out of the small curtain by K.s. Jose Alcala Soto called all in from the big blind for about 6 big blinds by 87. The flip came down J.108 To give Soto a pair while Pham picked up an open-ended flat pull. The In return Pham Soto gave the straight and the left draw dead. He earned $85,500 as the third-place finisher.
The heads-up game started with Engels holding a better than 2:1 lead over Pham. After more than an hour of play, Pham moved into the lead. The pair eventually stopped working to discuss sealing. They reached an agreement that had Pham secure the title and top payout of $168,000 as the chip captain, while Ingles received $162,000 as the runner-up. The result increased his career earnings to over $1.6 million.
Engels won a prize World Series of Poker Harrah’s Cherokee Circuit The main event this spring for $300,736,960 POY points. With a total of 2070 points, he is now the 123rd ranked player POY Leaderboards.
