The saddest casino in Las Vegas?
In Nevada there is a law that requires a gambling company that has a casino license to offer games, and if no games have been provided for two years, the valuable license will be lost.
And so, for just eight hours this week, a makeshift casino was opened operating under a white tent. according to FOX5 Las VegasThe site, formerly home to The Beach nightclub at 365 E. Convention Center Dr. 16 vintage video poker machines in operation.
The casino, if you can call it that, attracted some players. Some of the locals were interested in learning about the strange things.
The tent casino is located on land owned by Marriott International and operated by Century Gaming Technologies, according to the report.
“On May 18, 2023, the Nevada Gaming Commission approved Century Gaming Technologies, the licensed operator of the slot machine lane, db at The Beach, located at 365 E Convention Center Dr., for eight hours to play games,” the Nevada Gaming Control Board told FOX5 Las Vegas. Vegas:
“The site was created for unrestricted gaming operations without being a resort hotel as previously required NRS 463.1605. As such, grandfather status will expire if no games have been submitted for more than 24 months from the last day the game was made.”
According to the report, Las Vegas has been home to a pop-up casino like this 10 times over the past 17 years.
