Television New Zealand (TVNZ) is concerned about a fake video, now deleted, that made the rounds of one of its presenters promoting a gambling app. The AI-generated footage was a fake news story featuring Simon Dallow, which showed the news anchor talking about a gambling app.
Those who looked closely could see that the video was a bit out of sync when Dallow was talking about the sums of money New Zealanders had won through the app. He went on to claim that YouTube star MrBeast is the creator of the gambling show.
Presenter images are used without permission
The ad was first seen on Instagram; TVNZ removed the video. A spokesperson for the network explained that the presenters’ images were being used without permission and that they did not endorse such products.
