Sports betting monitoring firm US Integrity has alerted operators to suspicious betting activity at a men’s basketball game between Temple University and the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). The American Athletic Conference (ACC) confirmed that it is aware of the warning and plans to review the matter carefully. UAB won Thursday night’s contest by a score of 100-72.
I noticed a big change in the betting line before the match
US Integrity noticed a big change in the betting line before the match. UAB was initially the 1.5-point favorite to defeat Temple, but the streak swelled to as many as eight points at one stage before ending at seven points before the caution. This level of movement usually occurs when big money comes in for one team.
SI.com reported that Integrity USA was closely monitoring Temple’s matches. The company works with several NCAA conferences to monitor betting activity, as well as operating an anonymous tip line. It played a role in uncovering a betting scandal involving the University of Alabama’s head baseball coach in April, which led to his firing. The coach passed inside information to a person who then tried to place a six-figure bet.
