Call
Despite losing to YouTube star Logan Paul in a boxing match, Dillon Danis has now called out his opponent’s brother, Jake Paul. Danis took to X (formerly Twitter) to suggest a match, offering to retire and giving everyone who likes the post $2,000 if Jake Paul fires him:
The New Jersey native lost via disqualification in the co-main event on Saturday night during the Misfits Boxing Prime Card in the fight that preceded the Tommy Fury vs. KSI bout. In the lead-up to the event involving Danis and big brother Paul, the two sparked a fair amount of trash talk on social media. Much of it turned nasty, with Danis saying some awful things about Paul’s fiancée Nina Agdal, to the point where Agdal got a restraining order against him.
Not a close competition
The fight itself saw Paul go all out to land a big knockout, with Danis barely managing to land a punch through the six rounds. In the final seconds of the match, a full-blown brawl broke out and Danis was disqualified for attempting to put his opponent in a guillotine choke. Paul had done enough at that point to win the points.
A brawl also broke out in the ring after Saturday night’s fight, with members of the fighters’ entourage participating in the brawl.
Jake Paul was in attendance Saturday night and took to social media to say that Danis “talked too much and is one of the worst fighters I’ve ever seen,” which led to Danis issuing a challenge to younger brother Paul. He is still waiting for a response.
It gets a lot of attention
Celebrity boxing has taken off in recent years. Saturday’s event was reportedly on track to break viewership records. Pay-per-view purchases cost $54.99. One interested follower was rap star Drake.
He bet $850,000 on Logan Paul to win the fight by knockout
The Canadian national bet $850,000 on Logan Paul to win the fight by knockout, which would have netted him $1.3 million. Danis’ disqualification meant that Drake walked away empty-handed, and he was already known for his bad luck as many of his big-money bets were losers. He has a partnership with online gambling platform Stake, where he lost $8.5 million during a sponsored gambling live stream.
