The most exciting time of the year for poker players is upon us: The 2023 World Series of Poker has begun. The 2023 WSOP runs from May 30th through July 18th and features 95 live bracelet events, the most in history. There are also 20 bracelet events on WSOP.com for the combined Nevada/NJ network and seven each for Michigan and Pennsylvania.
As per usual, the inaugural tournament on Tuesday is the $500 Casino Staff No Limit Hold’em event. The first open event is Event #2: $25,000.
Players will really start dumping Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas on the Strip on Wednesday, with three tournaments kicking off, most notably the first four starting flights for Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions. The Mystery Millions guarantees $1 million for first place and has a grand prize of $1 million.
Complementing Wednesday’s schedule will be the opening days of the Tournament of Champions, which was at the end of last year’s WSOP, and Event #5: $1,500 six-hand dealer pick.
Last year’s main event was the second biggest of all time
The $10,000 main event begins July 3 and runs through July 17, with a one-day break before the final schedule begins. Last year’s main event was the second largest of all time, missing the record by just 110 entries; Tournament organizers believe this may be the year the 2006 record of 8,773 players is broken.
